My Latest Favorite

This is my latest favorite photo. I took it last night--we had the best day (and evening) of almost the whole trip. This picture is just a little preview of some posts to come in the next few days:

Every Princess Knows...

...That she needs a fuzzy pink crown.

The other night after the wedding reception (which I will blog about later, maybe today), Kara found a dress-up crown and insisted on putting it on. She was so proud after she was able to get it on her head and proudly wore it for us all to see. Until I pulled my camera out, that is, and then she tried to take it off! Sometimes she is a little stinker!

Trip Post # 3: Kara Makes Cake with Nana

My mom decided she needed to make banana cake for my dad yesterday, but she needed a little help in the kitchen. I was busy, so she found the perfect little helper. Can you guess who?

Kara's Guide to Making Cake:

1). Sit on the counter and make sure you have mixed the batter well

2). Sample the batter, just to make sure it tastes alright.

3). Clean up the mess you made on the counter. Cleanliness is very important.

4). Show your mom your messy face so she can take a million pictures of you.

5). Continue cleaning up the counter, one finger lick at a time.

6). Use your rubber spatula to scrape the batter from the bowl.

7). Sample the batter again; make sure it still tastes alright.

8). Sample the batter just one more time--a little double dipping never hurt anybody.

9). Look in amazement at the bowl after the cake is in the oven and wonder where all the batter went.

10). Flash your mom a few cute smiles, because you can, and because you know you're cute.

11). (Not pictured) Ask grandpa for "dakes" (cake) as soon as he walks in the door!

Trip Post # 2: Kara Runs Away From Us

I did two posts today, so make sure you don't miss the previous post!

When it was time for us to head home from the pool, Kara was having too much fun. As we headed to the car, she kept running from me (but next to Nana), and looking over her shoulder to make sure I wasn't going to make her get in the car. For some reason, in Kara's eyes, Nana is MUCH more fun than I am.

There is a little park and a field of grass next to the parking lot. Kara found a tree to play hide and seek around...

...But she was NOT going to get in the car! Every time we would get close to her, she would run away (and giggle).

Every so often, she would turn around after running as far away from us as she could and wave "bye bye."

Waving goodbye

I finally told her that if we went "bye bye" without her, she would have to take a nap in the park... So she laid her blankie down in the grass and went "night-night."

After a minute or so more of her running around, my mom went and grabbed her. Nana isn't ALWAYS fun and games after all!

Trip Post #1

I am behind on my blog. It is so hard to keep up when you are out of town! Anyway, here is a post about what we did a couple days ago...

The first day we got here, my mom and I were waiting for my dad to get home from work, so we took Kara out to the back yard to play. I love my parents' back yard for two reasons: one, our yard at home is all dirt and isn't much fun to play in (plus it is over-run by ants that bite you! I can't wait until we can own our own home), and two, my parents have lived here for 17 years, and most of the trees and vegetation in the back is starting to mature--so it is a beautiful and shady yard. One of the pear trees started producing little tiny pears this year! I thought that was pretty cool.

I showed Kara how to roll in the grass (even though I knew it would make me super itchy!), and we both had fun rolling around and chasing each other. Except for the moment that Kara decided to get upset and cry, but it only lasted for a moment and I don't even know what she got upset about. Maybe she just likes to fuss! Some may say it is payback, but I don't think that can be true because I was ALWAYS a perfect angel!

When my dad got home, he started working in the garden. See the patch of pumpkins he is growing for Kara? (Really, he is growing them for Kara!) I guess we will have to visit at Halloween!

Some of the peas he is growing were ready to be picked too, so Kara brought my dad a little bowl to put them in.

We tried to get Kara to eat some peas, but she won't eat almost anything green, and this is the reaction we got:

Stay tuned for some more trip photos tomorrow!

We've Taken a Little Trip

I know I haven't posted for a few days... Kara and I took a trip up to Colorado for a few weeks to stay with my parents. I love it here so much, and we have a lot of fun things planned!

I have a few posts full of pictures coming (maybe even later today)--so for all you friends/grandparents (especially grandparents) needing some pictures of my cutie pie, there will be some coming soon!

Dear Mom,

Every time I sit down to work on the project you asked me to finish...

The cat gets in my way...

And after I spend ten minutes trying to get him to stay off my sewing table (or off my lap),

I get distracted.

That is why it takes me forever to finish things. But I WILL finish your project on time, I promise.

Love,

Me.
