A Night to Remember

Kara has been working on walking for maybe a month now, but she is really cautious, and at most, would only take a tentative step here and there, and only with one of us close by.

Well, tonight at my mom's, Kara surprised us and decided to start walking out of the blue. She first started out by the window. After watching the dogs, she turned around, looked at me, took two steps, sat down and clapped and said "yaaay!" to herself. She did this a couple times more, and we thought that was the end of it. Well, later she was over petting the kitty at the couch when she decided to turn around and what do you know--she walked over to me! Across the room! We were so excited and she was so.excited that she kept clapping and saying "yaaaay" to herself. Of course, she would only show off as long as the camera wasn't out. Whenever I tried to take pictures or video, she would either turn her back to me and ignore me (yes, she really does that), or she would crawl over to me. Sigh. It was a bummer for Jon since he was at work! Hopefully she will show off for him tomorrow!

A Year of Kara

Happy 1st birthday Kara Bear!

It feels like just yesterday that she was born... and here she is a talking, eating, growing machine! If you ask her how old she is, she will hold up one finger and say " 'un," just in time for her birthday!

She tentatively will let go of things and take two or three steps, but I have a feeling she is going to be like her mom and hold off on walking until she is 14 months old.

I spent time looking at pictures of Kara through the past year last night, and I got a little teary eyed! My baby isn't such a baby anymore.

We love our little Kara Bear! I can't wait to see her grow over the next year!

Kara Says

I wanted to get these down so I can remember.

Kara says:

No
Dog
Cat
Grandpa
Grandma
Mama
Dada
Meow
Quack
Car
Banana
Uh-oh

Signs:
Eat
Drink
Milk
More

And she shakes her head "no."

She often meows at the cat, but if you ask her what the cat says or what the duck says, she will say "meow" or "quack" for whichever one you ask about.

She also still LOVES dogs. She follows them around and kisses them and puts her head in their face so they will kiss her back.
