At the Rodeo

In Colorado, there is a little hometown rodeo that we have gone to for the past 13 years. My dad has been able to present the saddle to the Rodeo Queen for most of those years, and it has become a treasured family event. This year was Kara's first year! I have only missed one year (last year), and made the drive up to CO to be able to attend this year.

We, of course, had to make sure Kara had the right garb for the event. She actually had TWO outfits (one for the warmer weather, a Carhart outfit, and one for the colder weather, blue jeans and a pink cowgirl shirt--fully equipped with pink cowgirl boots). While there, she got to sit on a horse. She was pretty interested in the horse, but she mostly just wanted to put the saddle in her mouth.

Today, Kara sampled some homemade whipped cream. She thought it was pretty fantastic.

Here are Kara's favorite foods, starting with least favorite up to favorite:

Applesauce
Squash
Pears
Sweet Potatoes
Green Beans
Bananas

(There are more that she eats, but she is neutral about them). She is a really, REALLY good eater, and she also loves to drink out of a cup. She has to have a drink practically any time she sees a cup. But her new favorite food?

Teething biscuits and cookies! She LOVES that she can feed herself--what a novel idea! It's a bit messy, but it makes her OH so happy!

Colorado

Kara and I went to Colorado for a few days to visit my family. We went to the hometown rodeo that we go to every year, and Kara had so much fun! She got to sit on a horse, watch the barrel racing, and play with grandpa. I will post pictures and tell more about that later, but FIRST, here are some portraits that my photographer friend Alyssa was sweet enough to come over and do for us. She did an absolutely amazing job, and there were too many wonderful pictures to pick my favorite, but here are a few photos that I absolutely LOVE. (I may have to put a slideshow with all the pictures on my sidebar because I love them all).

Movin' to the Groovin'

I realize that I have become one of those incredibly boring people that only writes about their children. I make no apologies, one, because I'd be more boring if I only talked about myself, and two, because I happen to have one of the cutest babies on the planet.

SO...

Kara will NOT sit still anymore! She rolls from one end of the room to the other. When she isn't rolling, she's scooting. It would be cute if she didn't scream at me every time she gets herself stuck in a corner! Here are some pictures of her rolling adventure this morning...

Play Time

Kara really loves Bricen, and is completely fascinated whenever Bricen plays with her or talks to her. Kara was playing in her activity seat this morning and Bricen went over to play with her. I caught these pictures:
